Implementation of a Maintenance Management System
Description of Project
For this client, we were tasked with the implementation of a maintenance management and shutdown management system for a major manufacturing site in Holland. Combining a variety of different manufacturing processes for different industries, including pharmaceutical, food, automotive, electronics, textiles and agriculture, the maintenance management system included work planning, monitoring and tracking, resource scheduling, management reporting and cost engineering.
We were also tasked with improving the efficiency of maintenance management, in order to save costs on personnel, materials and third parties, and also to reduce risks, ensuring visibility and a focus on health and safety.
Additionally, there was a need for gathering maintenance task data for future estimating purposes; with better maintenance management, higher quality could be maintained while reducing the need for maintenance, including costly shutdowns.
Chaucer’s scope
Our team was responsible for the specification, system tailoring and bespoke development, implementation and training of the maintenance management system. With work taking place both in our own offices and on site at the Holland plant, we were able to arrange the project management as well as the excecution of this complex project, ensuring that work was completed on time and full documentation and onsite training was provided.
Benefits
With improved management of routine and shutdown maintenance, the Chaucer team’s work also improved the efficiency in the use of resources and materials, and in the use of third-party contractors.
We were also able to produce cost savings in the execution of the maintenance work, capturing useful data for future maintenance tasks in respect to estimating future shutdowns. With more accurate management reporting and greater visibility, our team was also able to support the client’s risk mitigation and health and safety procedures.
