MBA Program
Description of Project
Chaucer Consulting was engaged with one of the three major U.S airlines to provide Project Management, Planning and Support Services for development and integration of a program designed to recruit upcoming graduates from the top MBA programs in the US.
In recent years airlines world wide have experienced unprecedented challenges and change because of issues like widely fluctuating fuel prices and security. The client wanted to ensure that they had the brightest minds from US universities available to help respond to and take advantage of these challenges. Requiring them to proactively seek out, engage, and recruit candidates.
No one knows the total number of MBA programs in the US but currently eighty tier one schools are ranked by Wall Street Journal and five other similar major publications. Clearly one of the first required steps in the development of the program was to create a repeatable and measurable process to prioritize and select target schools by criteria such as program alignment with business and corporate culture, school facilities to hold events and past recruitment success rates.
After the schools had been selected the real work of engaging students nationwide, creating and than sustaining interest for the client began. This meant developing everything from brochures to the scripting of initial meet nights and dinners, maintaining ties with prospects in an unobtrusive manner, recruit tracking, and finally making offers.
A key offering was the development of the rotational program allowing newly hired graduates to rotate thru the various groups such as Finance, Operations, Marketing, and Pricing enabling them to defer the final decision on where they want to work, giving them a varied work experience and a much better overall view of the companies operations.
Chaucer’s Scope
HR departments typically are not used to or setup to deal with major projects. Using our vast experience Chaucer brought focus and rigor to this project it to make it successful and repeatable in the future. We did this by the application of PM practices in a light touch manner so as to have the least amount of impact to current operations while delivering a project that was on time and under budget.
Benefits
By addressing the project gaps of the MBA Program created by having resources that were largely unaware of or had never used PM practices and managing the expectations of the widely varied group of rotational program stakeholders Chaucer was able to deliver this project on time and under budget for the client.
