NMDS-SC and LeaRNS requirements definition (Skills for Care)
Description of Project
To reach this goal, a project was set up to include the selection and approval of an appropriate IT supplier, to provide the relevant system and platform for data storage, access and retrieval. The providor would need to be managed right through to the completion of the development, and we were invited to support Skills for Care, enhancing their in-house capabilities and working closely with the leadership to ensure the success of the project.
Chaucer’s scope
During the supplier selection stage, we assisted Skills for Care with a number of work packages, including:
- Planning and mobilization: the leadership of planned activity, offering oversight and assurance for the project’s inception, goals and direction.
- Processing requirements for NMDS-SC and LeaRNS.
- Artefacts: Leadership of the in-house team on production of data artifacts.
- Evaluation and selection: Assistance with supplier evaluations and negotiation
We also subsequently provided assurance of the critical NMDS-SC build phase, working closely with the project’s manager.
Benefits
After completing the project on time, we were proud to see Skills for Care successfully launch the NMDS-SC project, which became a successfully recognised database for care professionals across the UK.
With multiple stakeholders engaged throughout the process, our early partnership with the leadership team allowed for any scope changes to occur prior to any involvement of external providers, avoiding delays at both the negotiation and appointment phases.
Our careful selection of the IT provider met the set regulations on spend and transparency, and our team was able to leave behind a solid framework agreement with the supplier, seen as best in class and subsequently leveraged by Skills for Care.
