Chaucer and Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club (Wolves) have a strong history together, dating back to Chaucer’s sponsorship of the team in 2004.
That sponsorship ran all the way to the end of the 2008/09 season, when Wolves were promoted to the Barclays Premier League, England’s top footballing tier.
Wolves' Academy
Since Wolves’ promotion to the Barclays English Premier League in 2009, Chaucer have continued to support the club as the Academy sponsor. We now have 120 players and 6 teams (9 years to 16 years) playing in Chaucer shirts every week in a variety of leagues and competitions.
Many of the Academy players already play for their country and some have played in the Wolves senior squad in competitions such as the League Cup. We are proud to play our small part in the development of these players, and indeed the club as a whole.
Pictured is the whole Academy shown in Chaucer strip.

The Chaucer kit has had a few design changes in that time, but its popularity across the world has stayed the same.
Indeed we are often sent newspaper cuttings or pictures of Chaucer-sponsored Wolves shirts from various corners of the globe. Such as Sierra Leone – where a UK businessman and avid Wolves supporter arranged a shipment of shirts to kit out locals in his beloved team’s colours.

As these photographs show, the Chaucer shirts were handed out to many local youngsters and the local football club. Perhaps we will soon see one of them playing in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of African players like Didier Drogba and Michael Essien.
