Today we announced our commitment to taking responsible business action to help create the world we all want to live in by becoming a signatory of the UN Global Compact. In doing so, we join over 10,000 companies in 160 countries globally focused on delivering positive changes.
Improving lives is at the heart of what we do across Chaucer already, but with this signature we are take another step to fully committing to this. This means operating in ways that, at a minimum, meet fundamental responsibilities in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. By incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into our strategies, policies and procedures, and by establishing a culture of integrity, we are not only upholding our basic responsibilities to people and planet, but also setting the stage for long-term success.
By participating in the Global Compact we commit to publicly disclosing annually the outcomes and achievements towards its Ten Principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.
