Data Protection & The Death Of The US Privacy Shield Panel Session

Many US businesses trading with Europe have been thrown into confusion by the court decision from the European CJEU about the legality of transferring personal data from the EU using the Privacy Shield.  What options are now available, and what are the potential consequences of this judgement?

The legal and ethical need to protect personally sensitive data is well understood. Equally, the extra-territorial reach of the EU’s GDPR legislation and the trans-Atlantic ‘Privacy Shield’ agreement have been part of the recent landscape for doing business. However, COVID notwithstanding, this year is upsetting the status quo.

In this podcast Chaucer invites you to our international panel discussion on the pressures of operating trans-Atlantic business under the auspices of GDPR (with fines of 4% of global revenue), the implications of the Schrems II decision (July 16, 2020) striking down the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework and the impending end of the Brexit Transition Period (Dec 31, 2020).’
